Bad News-
We are sorry to inform you that STAR REBATE CHECKS have been eliminated since 2009.
Good News-
NYS continues to fund
the BASIC and ENHANCED STAR credits that are applied to your school tax bill. BASIC and ENHANCED STAR money is remitted
directly to your school district as in the past.
You may need to file each year and submit income tax documents to receive your
credit. Basic Star applicants may avoid this annual hassle by granting permission to property tax assessor to verify your income tax
data directly from The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, if you have not done so in a prior year. This is accomplished
by checking the appropriate box on the Star application. Enhanced Star applicants will need to reapply each year. Note that for the
first time, there will be a "household" income requirement to receive Basic and Enhanced Star that includes the combined income of
everyone in your household.
